Acent Motors Logo Creation

Accent Motors logo

Recently I have been asked to produce a brand for a car sales company called Accent Motors, which is a new start up company selling used cars. I always enjoy designing when its a subject I have a passion for, I find it makes its a lot easier for the ideas to flow. Another benefit was that the brief was very open the comments he had were to have a separate mark to go alongside the wording ‘Accent Motors’ and to make it look nothing like the Eclipse Cars Logo I had produced in 2009 for a friend of his.

I started to sketch a few things down, for the first hour or so I just kept thinking about the way people speak as the company name was ‘accent’!. Once I got my head around that and started focusing, I got a few good concepts down on paper, some of which were incorporating a car outline around the type others linking the A and the W, nothing that would change the world but they would work in black and white and any size. I normally would follow through with a few ideas and put them into illustrator to show the client but I had a good feeling about one concept I had. The A linking to the M and giving the impression of a streamer, so a continuous strip folding over each over.

Once I had put it into illustrator it was time to play with a few colours and get the gradients just right so it made the streamer look like it was spiraling around.

Above are some of the colour combination’s I put together, I don’t know why but I really liked the first one, the purple and blue really popped.

The client liked the black and yellow which really did work well, and for a car company seemed a better choice then purple and blue.

Once I had browsed through my fonts, looking for a modern san-serif font I settled on Walkway Bold, which actually turned out well as the client loved it and didn’t want to change a thing on the logo. I love it when you get a easy and a happy client.

This is the final logo creation, just need to put together letterheads and business cards.
