I was not sure on what too title this but I though that NAF(non active fading) worked, basically the function below fades out the not active siblings to make the element you are hovered over stand out.
I got this idea after seeing this site. After trying out many ideas and failing I knew there must be a way of selecting the not active siblings. A quick look through my Packt jQuery Reference Guide and I found .not() under the filtering methods.

This tutorial is about how to make a gallery using Jquery, without the need for a plugin. I’m not saying don’t use a gallery plugin, but like me you might not want to, so this is an alternative. We will make this work by attaching an image to each thumbnail using the rel attribute, then replacing a div with an image.

You can easily switch an image using CSS but that’s a straight switch, which is fine for most things. I wanted a smoother method which would fade the image from black and white to colour. This is not the most challenging of tasks but its worth doing, it is so easy to implement to multiple images.

I want to make a jquery sliding panel but make it a little different. I always see tutorials on sliding panels pretty much all coming from the top and sliding down into view. I don’t know about you but that’s pretty boring now, the best one I’ve seen recently is by Jon Phillips click here to view. It appears from a point behind the button then returns to that point.

This is my first tutorial on jquery so just bare with me…Jquery seems to be something I really want to learn but I just cant find the time to learn it. Everytime I open my Learning Jquery 1.3 book from Packt a deadline comes up, so the book it placed back on the shelf to gather dust! But finally I found a perfect moment to fiddle with it. So I have put together a simple effect using an image and a caption which slides up when hovered over. It was actually pretty easy to achive.

The days of flat/block color text are dead you can apply many effects by just being a bit creative with CSS, CSS3 makes it a little bit easier with the text shadow style BUT until ie6 dies designers are having to find alternative ways to create text effects.

I have always been looking around for an easy way of having custom fonts in web designs. As the web is evolving so quickly designer must make their designs stand out as much as possible and one way of doing this is using a custom font for a project.

The Color Replacement tool is great for touching up photos or dramatically changing the color of an element. Really simple tool in Photoshop but I think many people over look it and try duplicating layers and using Hue/Saturation (ctrl+U) to get the desired effect.
