NAF Jquery

I was not sure on what too title this but I though that NAF(non active fading) worked, basically the function below fades out the not active siblings to make the element you are hovered over stand out.

I got this idea after seeing this site. After trying out many ideas and failing I knew there must be a way of selecting the not active siblings. A quick look through my Packt jQuery Reference Guide and I found .not() under the filtering methods.

Moving on…

Moving on
After 31 months of working for Blue Solutions a leading software distribution company in Wokingham I am leaving for a new job working for a digital agency in Basingstoke. I felt the time was right for a new challenge and my iPod was running out of tracks. We only learn by challenging ourselves and I felt the challenge had stopped.

Feature Gallery – Jquery

Gallery TutorialThis tutorial is about how to make a gallery using Jquery, without the need for a plugin. I’m not saying don’t use a gallery plugin, but like me you might not want to, so this is an alternative. We will make this work by attaching an image to each thumbnail using the rel attribute, then replacing a div with an image.

Fading Image Switch Jquery

fadingimageYou can easily switch an image using CSS but that’s a straight switch, which is fine for most things. I wanted a smoother method which would fade the image from black and white to colour. This is not the most challenging of tasks but its worth doing, it is so easy to implement to multiple images.

Horizontal Sliding Panel

slidingpanel I want to make a jquery sliding panel but make it a little different. I always see tutorials on sliding panels pretty much all coming from the top and sliding down into view. I don’t know about you but that’s pretty boring now, the best one I’ve seen recently is by Jon Phillips click here to view. It appears from a point behind the button then returns to that point.

Sliding FAQ

faqAfter my last article on a jquery image caption I have continued to fiddle with jquery and something I felt would be good to have is a FAQ slider, a bit like an accordion. I am sure you have seen one around but if not its basically a list of Questions and once clicked apon the answer is show below.

Jquery Image Caption

jquerycaptionThis is my first tutorial on jquery so just bare with me…Jquery seems to be something I really want to learn but I just cant find the time to learn it. Everytime I open my Learning Jquery 1.3 book from Packt a deadline comes up, so the book it placed back on the shelf to gather dust! But finally I found a perfect moment to fiddle with it. So I have put together a simple effect using an image and a caption which slides up when hovered over. It was actually pretty easy to achive.

Useful tooltip Resources

Tool tips can be a great addition to any website, they can display additional content to a certain web element with the user hovering over a section, this then frees up your site from looking cluttered as a lot of content can be hidden.
