Natural Elements in design
As I sit at a desk pretty much all day I have noticed many websites using natural elements in there web projects, from wood panel backgrounds to full on field of grass. By using such textures you can give the illusion of your site being 3D also its something we can relate to, maybe you have a memory of rolling in the mud when younger or laying in a corn field with someone your fond of! I’m going to run through a few of my findings.
Got Wood?
Below are a few sites using wooden elements. Ive tried to give you some new inspiration, some of these sites you may have never seen before.
Hands down this is the best program the BBC have aired. I was surprised to see them using a wood background. Looks good though doesn’t it.
Even I have jumped on the band wagon with natural elements, I used a dark wood texture which I made look like there were spot lights on it.
The Great Outdoors
This site was featured in Web designer magazine and you have to check it out, its all flash but the colors and movement you get it great.
Of course some sites just have to be naturefied, with a name like organice supermarket the designer would have been stupid not to use natural elements.
There’s not a whole lot to read in this post but as they say a picture is worth 1000 words, you have plenty of them to look at. This is only a small example of what you could use in your own websites, so many things happen outside you could capture the sun setting or the rainbow fish swimming in the coral. If you clients let you then you can go wild with natural elements, just though of mountains, you could use them…
