I love chicken wings, the more hot sauce on them the better and I have 3 kidneys...You can find me on multiple social networking sites, so come say hi. I hope at least one post on here is useful to you!
Logo Design – CATS-i
Latest logo I designed was one for CATS-i. Which is a tracking company. After a limited brief and multiple changes to that limited brief throughout the design stage made it quite a tricky one to get finished, but this is what I ended up with. Below are the stages I went through to produce it.
So as with any design you always start out with a bit of research. There were a few companies in the UK who would be a competitor to CATS-i but a main one which was TRACKER had a very prominant logo and have been around for a while.
Next stage was brainstorming then sketching page after page of ideas, cats, eyes, C+i, abstract eyes, navigation symbols, satelites etc etc
Once I had show my sketches and their views (brief change- no eyes, cats or anythnig to obvious.)
They said no satellites but then changed their mind as they thought no one would know what CATS-i actually did. So I carried on developing the ideas…
Finally got to this idea, which I was starting to really like, and i picked out orange from the start and they never wanted to change it which was a bonus. Just to look at fonts now.
Next was to play around with a few fonts, I had to do a bit of research with fonts as I was not taught in college about them… so I went straight to amazon bought a book on fonts. read it, still dont understand them greatly. i tried out so many, I really was looking for a bold sans-serif which had impact and made a statement when you saw it.
So when I had found a font which I thought worked I looked and it and looked and could not work out why it looked off. Then I spotted it, it was the shapes not flowing, I had a sharp corner inside the radar section.
So I redrew the i and set the top of the i into it, otherwise it was just going to look stupid with the sharp bottom of the eye with the top. Image below of the dot.
This is the final design in color, really think it turned out well. You can find the business card design on my website click here
